Camber is a typeface based on the curvature in cross sections of aircraft wings. The difference in these curves is called the camber which produces lift and is the shape that creates the serifs in the typeface. Inspired by the forward movement of italic typefaces, Camber aims to replicate the sleek aerodynamic curves of aircrafts.
The initial ideation came from sketching different styles of “N” which were then expanded and refined into other letterforms. After being hand drafted, the type was then rebuilt digitally.
