The goal of my thesis project was to explore the connection between music and graphic design. I accomplished this by rebranding The Vaccines’ new album Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations.

WMU THEATER

Volume of 8 is the annual graduation presentation for the Western Michigan University Dance majors.

For 2023 the focus was on how dancers take up space and create new forms using their body. Using extruded letterforms that dance around eachother, the advertising abstracts the dancers form into letters.

PARCHMENT PANTHERS

MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD

The Parchement Middle School track & field coach reached out about designing a mascot and apparel for the team, separate from the schools main logo.

This took the form of creating a more cartoonish version of the school’s logo that reflected the younger students while maintinging the connection to the school.

TERMINALS

WMU SENIOR SHOW

“In typography, “terminal” refers to the ending of strokes. Terminal treatment is a key factor in typeface design, having a significant effect on legibility and stylistic expression. Alternatively, terminals are also a liminal space. People come together in a shared space of transition, and depart in search of new opportunities. Our current position echoes this sentiment. We invite you to visit a terminal of our own making, to see us off as we depart for the greater world of design.”

My contribution to the 2024 Graphic Design BFA exhibition was helping to name the show, collaborating in creation of the identity, and the creation of the title wall that is seen as you first enter the gallery space.

The Airzoo is an aviation history museum that showcases over 100 aviation and space aircraft and artifacts. Split into 5 sections of aviation history, symbols were created as a wayfinding system to be used while navigating the museum.

ON AVERAGE

On average is an episode from the 99% Invisible podcast. The cover layout was created as a group and the content for different episodes was populated indivdually. The spreads for the episode On Average are based on the idea of measuring people, and items that are designed for averages. The title, pull quotes, and images of people are used to show that no one person is the same as another.

RIPPED RICE

Inspired by the convenience and look of protein powders, shakes, and pre-workout, Ripped Rice offers a preportioned meal base of rice along with microwave safe disposable containers. This allows for quick cooking and hassle frree cleanup while on the go. Simply microwave, add your protein, and recycle.

CAMBER

Camber is a typeface based on the curvature in cross sections of aircraft wings. The difference in these curves is called the camber which produces lift and is the shape that creates the serifs in the typeface. Inspired by the forward movement of italic typefaces, Camber aims to replicate the sleek aerodynamic curves of aircrafts.
